One of Southeast Tennessee’s most treasured historic properties, Crescent Bend House & Gardens is a traditional brick farmhouse. Built in 1834, the house is named for the crescent bend in the Tennessee River that it overlooks from its majestic hillside perch. The property was once a 900-acre working farm, but is now a publically dedicated botanical garden and museum that serves the local community. Inside the farmhouse, guests enjoy an eclectic mix of 18th century English and American furniture and artwork. Outside, three acres of formal terraced Italian-style gardens face the Tennessee River.
Guests are invited to wander happily through a hedge maze and around circular water fountains. A series of stairways transport visitors past cascading levels of botanical delights. Japanese maples, roses, conifers, and vibrant bouquets of tulip beds lead to even more fountains and a rolling green grass lawn that abuts the riverbank below. Spacious lower and upper terrace lawns allow room for large wedding tents and ample guest seating in a variety of arrangements.
Colorful wedding bouquets, dresses, and decorations spring to life against the backdrop of Crescent Bend’s demure white farmhouse, which cannot help but reflect the innocence and elegance of a past generation once forgotten. Crescent Bend is a veritable island of tranquility and peace, carefully positioned away from the main road and insulated by trees on all sides. The semicircular pea gravel driveway approaching the farmhouse begs for horse and carriage service, although more modern vehicles are equally accepted.
Crescent Bend is a truly picturesque venue for both indoor and outdoor weddings. For more information please call Crescent Bend at 865-637-3163.
